Although Pelhams association with the Harrods luggage department goes back to 1990 when it was a small supplier to it, the Spitz family’s association with Harrods goes back to the early 1970’s, when, as the then owners of the luxury shoe chains Kurt Geiger and Carvela Shoes, the largest luxury ladies shoe department (at the time) opened within the store. Stephen Spitz is the 3rd generation of the family to be in the Shoe business and the first in the travel and leather goods business.

The first area in Harrods opened in March 1973, when Stephen’s father David Spitz and his cousin, Anthony Spitz opened the first of many shoe departments in the store, at that time on the first floor. David Spitz moved to England in 1977 with his family and built up and sold, a number of times, very successful and well known shoe companies. The Spitz family are very proud that their association with Harrods is now entering its 45th year.
